# FAQs

**Where is the dive shop located? Our shop is located at Marina Fonatur ASIPONA

Please check our location on google maps: [https://g.page/scubalifecozumel?share](https://g.page/scubalifecozumel?share)

**Can I dive without certification?Sure, our Discover Scuba Diving experience will teach you basic skills of scuba diving during a brief theory and confined water session, before joining our dives to enjoy the stunning underwater world.  [Book Here](https://scubalifecozumel.rezdy.com/243228/discover-scuba-diving-2-boat-dives)

**Can I take my bag onboard?Generally we would recommend not bringing unnecessary items on the boat (particularly anything that that you would not want to get wet), but certainly a small bag of essential items is possible.

**Can non-divers come along for the ride on the boat?
As long as the boat is not full that day, they are welcome to come along for $30.

**What are the water temperatures in Cozumel? Do I need a wetsuit? The water temperature ranges between 77 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter months (Dec, Jan, Feb); 78 to 80 degrees in the Spring (March through May) and warm up to 82 – 86 degrees in the summer months.

Exposure protection is really determined by your tolerance and is based on your tendency to chill. Keep in mind that if you will be doing multiple dives over multiple days, you will probably become less tolerant of cold as the week progresses.  A good all- around suit for Cozumel is a full 3 mm.

**What is a typical dive profile? All of our dives are tailored to meet the desires and objectives of our divers. However, a typical day with us would be a wall dive to a depth of 70-80 feet, multi-level profile, with the bottom time determined by your air consumption and dive computer. The second dive is typically a shallower dive between 40 and 60 feet. Our average bottom times range between 60 and 70 Minutes.

**How many divers are on the dive boat? Our twin-engine boats, Kailani 32′ and Leilani 35′, set the bar in Cozumel.  They are the best boats around, custom-designed, spacious, comfortable and fast. **We limit our dive groups to** **8 divers** on each boat and there are always **2 Divemasters**. That means we keep a ratio of 4 divers per divemaster because we believe in personal service. No other company offers this ratio in Cozumel.

**What will we see?Cozumel has a wide variety of marine life including turtles; spotted eagle rays; nurse sharks; schools of snappers, grunts, and triggerfish; barracudas; seahorses; and Cozumel’s endemic Splendid Toadfish. You will drift along walls of coral with plentiful sponges as you fly out over the abyss. Each site will be different every time you dive.

**At what time are your departures? Our morning 2 tank trips departs our shop at 9 AM and our afternoon trips depart at 2 PM.

**Where do you pick up divers? We only pick up at oceanfront locations south of our shop on the way to the reefs. There is a $5-10 USD per person per day fee for certain pickup locations.

In order to maintain our high level of personalized service, and provide our divers with the best experience possible, we limit the number of divers in our groups.

**Can you take me to a specific reef? How are dive sites chosen?Dive sites  are chosen each day based on our guests’ preferences and skills. If you have a particular reef you’d like to visit, let us know and we will do our best to get you there. It mostly depends on what our divers want to do and where they may have already been. Weather (currents, wind and visibility) and timing can also be a factor in deciding but we try to get our divers where they want to go whenever possible.

**When is the best time of year to visit Cozumel?Cozumel is great all year around! The quietest time here would be during our wet season, September through November. January through April is our high season. Summer is the hottest time, from July through September. The great thing about Cozumel underwater is always good! We always have great visibility (100ft+), plenty of action, and warm water. Winters are generally the driest time, but the island does experience the occasional Norte, bringing with it blustery winds. They are infrequent and short lived.

**What kind of dives can I expect on Cozumel?Cozumel is a diver’s dream! Located on the world’s second longest barrier reef system, the island is home to an incredible variety of underwater adventures from wall diving to drift diving, wrecks, swim throughs, coral formations, and caves; there is something for every one.
